Rex
Maruca began his journey in the textile industry in Chicago, with his
first job in the trade as an upholstery salesman. He soon discovered
his love for fine fabrics, and started his first business, Textures,
which focused on furniture re-upholstering and window coverings. At
the suggestion of one of his clients, he made his first tote bag, for
carrying his fabric samples into people's homes. Next was the request
for a diaper bag that would fit in to the executive world, and born
was the idea of selling fine fabric handbags in boutiques. With the
partnership of master seamstress, Lida King, Rex's vision grew into
Maruca Design. We are a design house comprised of people who share a
deep appreciation for tailored simplicity and functional elegance, and,
above all, a love of fabrics. We take great pride in the fact that our
handbags are hand cut and sewn in our studio in Boulder, Colorado, and
